Where prices run highest and lowest

In our October 2026 cost tables, Montecito is the most expensive place in Santa Barbara County to renovate, about 39% above the county average, and Guadalupe the least expensive, about 26% below it. A mid-size kitchen remodel runs $56k–$104k in Montecito and $30k–$56k in Guadalupe. The difference is mostly labor rates, permit fees and site conditions.

    How to read these numbers

How are these county cost ranges calculated?

Each project type starts from a 2026 Los Angeles County baseline, adjusted by a county multiplier for local labor, permitting and site conditions. City pages apply their own multiplier. Planning estimates, not quotes.

How do I get a real price for my project?
